Jari Tees and Custom Designs Brand Development

The brief:

Jari Designs was a small start-up founded by myself. It was created to foster and illicit pride for those with naturally textured hair through the use of empowering t-shirts and accessories. The target audience was African-American mothers from the ages of 24 – 42.

Insight:

In keeping with my high-contrast aesthetic, Jari’s colors were black with neon accents. My goal was to create a memorable brand that played well within the African American diaspora.

All t-shirt graphics were designed by me and cut from vinyl utilizing a Silhouette Cameo electronic cutting machine. Each design was then pressed onto garments using a standard platen heat press.

Product photographs were all done by me utilizing a Nikon 3200 DSLR.

The results:

  • 225K+ organic impressions over 6-month span
  • 1.5K+ click throughs to website
  • Over 100 tees sold in first week of launch
  • 8K+ fans and followers gained across platforms within first quarter

Jari was launched with rave reviews and was featured on CBS morning news in Charlotte, The Huffington Post, ESPN, and Mocha Kid Magazine within the first year of its inception.
